Sometimes in life we experience situations that can be overwhelming, and we begin to struggle with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Other times we or our family members may experience more chronic difficulties that impact our functioning. Therapy is available to assist you in finding balance in your life through learning appropriate ways of coping and learning new skills, increasing motivation, and letting go of emotional pain.
Gina is a warm and compassionate person that will listen, and provide guidance to you, using a positive outlook, sense of calm, and humor when appropriate. As a long time resident of the area, she is sensitive to the special needs of those residing in and around our Quiet Corner.
Include, but are not limited to... Depression, anxiety, co-parenting, divorce, grief and loss, relationship concerns, behavioral modification, trauma, foster care and adoption, social skills, self esteem, communication, organization, workplace difficulties, and Christianity.
Gina enjoys working with individuals, couples and families of all types, and especially enjoys working with teenagers and young adults, along with the parents who guide them. She believes that healthy family dynamics are important for the development of the child and assists in providing structure and direction to families who lack this.
Gina is a licensed clinical social worker within the state of Connecticut, who is also licensed in the state of Rhode Island. This means that clients may be in either of these two states during the time of sessions.
Gina began her private practice in 2014. She received her Master's Degree in Social Work in 2010 from Springfield College in Massachusetts, and undergraduate degree in Social Work in 2001 from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Due to the nature of telehealth, she sees older children (tweens and teens), in addition to families, couples and adults. Gina also has a great deal of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Gina often volunteers at her local church, serving in various positions over the years. She is open to helping you through your spiritual journey if this is something you wish to address.
Gina utilizes an eclectic approach to her practice, which includes Motivational Interviewing, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), TF-CBT (Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Play Therapy, and some DBT strategies.
To accommodate parents and youth with busy afternoon schedules, third shifters, and early risers who like to have therapy prior to work and school, therapeutic services begin early, at 7am.
